Whitening your teeth is a simple procedure from our Raleigh dentist that allows us to make your natural teeth whiter in a non-invasive way.

Many patients come into our dental office wanting to aesthetically enhance their smile. Tooth whitening is done to your natural tooth enamel, so it’s important to take into consideration any fillings, crowns, or other dental implants. If you do need a dental restoration, it should be done after your teeth whitening treatment so that match your freshly whitened teeth.

  • Natural wearing of your teeth
  • Teeth stains from medicine, smoking, eating, or drinking

What Teeth Whitening Involves

The Brite Smile whitening treatment usually takes two visits to our Raleigh dental office. Your first appointment will consist of making molds of your teeth. We’ll use these molds to create clear, custom trays for your mouth.

During your second appointment, Dr. Schmorr will have you try on your trays to make sure they fit properly. Any necessary adjustments can be made. Your custom trays are worn twice a day for 30 minutes at a time, or overnight for a couple of weeks, and will contain a special whitening solution. Depending on your desired level of whiteness, our Raleigh dentist will suggest the right usage for you. Sensitivity is common during the whitening process but should subside after the bleaching is done.

Tooth whitening provides results are not permanent and may be needed every few years. If you smoke or if you drink a lot of dark-colored liquids, touch-ups may be needed more frequently. Dr. Schmorr will give you special instructions for the care of your whitening trays, and recommend how often you should visit the dentist for routine check-ups to maintain your healthy, white smile.
